Description
Português: O Brasão de Armas deste município é constituído por um escudo, um forte, três tainhas, uma espada e uma pena.

O escudo era usado com fortes tradições nas Vilas e Capitanias de domínios portugueses. Tem referencia quanto à origem social, política e cultural das nossas origens.

O forte representa a existência do antigo forte localizado no ponto mais alto da cidade que servia para defesa da antiga vila de Santa Madalena.

As tainhas representam o fruto e o produto nobre que a nossa a nossa lagoa e canais oferecia em toda a sua extensão.

A espada, localizada no lado direito do escudo, significa a bravura do Marechal Deodoro da Fonseca.

E finalmente a Pena que fica localizada no lado esquerdo do escudo representa a inteligência de um filho também ilustre que destacou-se muito no cenários das letras que foi o Dr. Tavares Bastos.
