Deutsch: Als sich Schmitten 1922 definitiv von Düdingen trennte, wählte die Gemeinde fortan das Wappen des Heiligen Eligius, Schutzpatron der Schmiede, als Gemeindewappen. Zange, Schlange und Hammer stehen als Symbol für den Ortschaftsnamen Schmitten welcher sich auf Schmiede bezieht. Der rote Hintergrund könnte als Erinnerung an die Abtrennung von Düdingen gewählt worden sein. |
