Notes | Attributed to the Johnny Jones whaling station and settlement, near Waikouaiti, north of Dunedin, the chair is a very rare, early example of domestic New Zealand made seated furniture used by settlers, whalers and traders. Taking advantage of New Zealand rimu, a wood that grows abundantly throughout the entire country, the chair is a simplified Regency period, Sheraton-styled elegant dining chair with arms and flat integral seat. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
