Description
English: Audio Alchemy DAC-in-the-Box. This is an external digital-to-analog converter from about the early 1990s, which was used to bypass the internal respective device or module of the user's CD player. It featured a high-end DAC integrated circuit chip (IC) from the company Burr Brown, which is typically superior to those built into the CD player, hence the delivered analog audio sound (via stereo RCA connectors on the rear side) was slightly better than that when using the analog RCA output of the player. This only works when the CD player has a digital output, which is, however, almost standard with most higher quality players.
