Deutsch: Die Stadt hält bis heute an der bekannten Darstellung des Mainzer Stiftsheiligen St. Martin fest, die schon in dem aus dem 14. Jahrhundert stammenden Sekretsiegel auftritt. Als altes, vom Siegelbild verschiedenes Wappen ist jedoch auch hier wie bei anderen ehemaligen Städten des Erzstifts Mainz das Rad bezeugt, so auf einem spätmittelalterlichen Wappenstein am Obertorturm, auf alten Grenzsteinen und als Schmuck des Marktbrunnens und von Privatgebäuden. |
