Deutsch: Blasonierung: Das Wappen der ehemaligen Stadt Benrath zeigt im durch einen roten Wechselzinnenbalken geteilten silbernen (weißen) Schild oben ein blaugekrönter und -bezungter roter Löwenkopf; unten ein liegender rechtsgerichteter blauer, vierfach gezackter Blitz. Bedeutung: Der Löwenkopf und der Wechselzinnenbalken sind abgeleitet vom Wappen der Grafen und Herzöge des Herzogtums Berg, die mehrere Jahrhunderte die Gegend regierten. Der Blitz symbolisiert das 1906 erbaute Kraftwerk Reisholz, welches früher zur Großgemeinde Benrath gehörte; das zeitweise größte Steinkohlekraftwerk der Welt. |
