Object history
Deutsch: Die Grundherrschaft lag bis 1803 beim Deutschen Orden, der sie vom Kloster St. Gallen übernommen hatte. Dagegen beanspruchten die Markgrafen von Hachberg-Sausenberg in der Nachfolge der Herren von Rötteln die Hochgerichtsbarkeit und damit die Landeshoheit, die 1503 an die Markgrafen von Baden überging. Der Landvogt E. F. von Leutrum berichtet um 1730, die Gemeinde habe sich als „Dorfzeichen oder Wappen" einen Fisch erwählt, zweifellos in volksetymologischer Deutung des Ortsnamens. In seiner ältesten Form begegnet er im Jahre 772 als „Fisginca" und wird mit dem Personennamen Visko in Verbindung gebracht. Ein bildlicher Beleg des Dorfzeichens aus dem 18. Jahrhundert ist nicht bekannt. Ein umschriftloses Siegel derselben Zeit zeigt nur das badische Wappen. Die Gemeindesiegel des 19. Jahrhunderts enthalten den badischen Wappenschild, wobei der Schrägbalken mit einem Fisch belegt zu sein scheint. Im Jahre 1905 wurde das Wappen in besserer Zeichnung und in den badischen Farben von der Gemeinde angenommen.
