Deutsch: Das Wappen zeigt in stilisierter Form die sogenannte Arnoldusglocke aus dem 12. Jahrhundert, die in der Pfarrkirche St. Vitus in Gilching hängt und zu den ältesten Glocken Deutschlands gehört. Sie wurde im Auftrag des Pfarrers Arnoldus von Gilching um 1170 gegossen. Die Farben Rot und Gold wurden zur Unterscheidung von dem ähnlichen Wappen der Stadt Mindelheim (über blauen Wellen in Silber eine schwarze Glocke) gewählt. Das Wappen ist das Ergebnis eines Preisausschreibens der Gemeinde vom Herbst 1951, an dem sich alle Einwohner beteiligen konnten. Auf besonderen Wunsch der Gemeinde wurde noch die Jahreszahl 804 in das Dienstsiegel aufgenommen, die an das Jahr der urkundlichen Erstnennung Gilchings erinnert. |
