Deutsch: Der einstige Königshof Herzogenaurauch gehörte von 1021 bis 1803 zum Bistum Bamberg. Aus dem Jahr 1343 ist der Abdruck eines Siegels überliefert mit dem Bamberger Löwen. Seitdem steht er in allen Siegeln, in einem Schild oder frei. In Siegelabbildungen des 17. Jahrhunderts sitzt der Löwe reitend auf dem Schrägbalken. In farbigen Wappenabbildungen von 1603, 1609 und auf einer Plastik von 1700 in der Stadtkirche ist dem Löwenschild ein rotes Tatzenkreuz unterlegt, wohl als Hinweis auf die einstige Niederlassung des Templerordens in Herzogenaurach. Von 1819 bis 1836 steht der Löwe allein im Schild, der Schrägbalken wurde als Hinweis auf die ehemalige Territorialherrschaft des Hochstifts weggelassen. |
