Deutsch: Der Elefant (mittelhochdeutsch: Helfant) ist das „redende" Wappentier der früheren Ortsherrschaft Helfenstein. Die Zinnenmauer dient als unterscheidendes Beizeichen, das die Verwechslung mit anderen in dieser Gegend vorkommenden Elefantenwappen ausschließen soll. Die Gemeinde hat das Wappen im Jahre 1948 festgelegt und nach dem 19. März 1960, an dem es vom Innenministerium samt der Flagge verliehen wurde, geführt. |
