Deutsch: Der Ort hat seinen Namen von der später zur Pfarrkirche erhobenen Nikolauskapelle unterhalb der Burg Rodeck. Die Burg, seit 1379 je zur Hälfte im Besitz des Hochstifts Straßburg und der Markgrafen von Baden, wurde 1419 ganz badisch, während das Hochstift die Dorfherrschaft erwerben konnte. Diese Rechtsverhältnisse spiegelten sich in dem seit 1481 belegten Siegel des Gerichts Kappelrodeck, zu dem neben vier weiteren Orten auch das am 1. Januar 1974 nach Kappelrodeck eingemeindete Waldulm gehörte. Das Siegel zeigte unter anderem den straßburgischen Schrägbalken, belegt mit dem badischen Wappenschild. Als „redendes" Symbol führte die Gemeinde seit dem 19. Jahrhundert eine Kirche im Siegel. Am 16. November 1956 wurde das Wappen vom Innenministerium verliehen. Es vereinigt das Wappen des Hochstifts Straßburg (In Rot ein silberner Balken) mit dem jüngeren Siegelmotiv. |
