Deutsch: Das Oberrieder Tal wurde im hohen Mittelalter besiedelt. Hier hatte das im westlichen Hegau beheimatete Geschlecht der edelfreien Herren von Tengen Besitz, den es vom Kloster St. Gallen zu Lehen trug und 1237 den Nonnen von Günterstal zum Zweck einer Klostergründung übergab. Die weitere Geschichte Oberrieds wurde jedoch bestimmt von den Wilhelmiten, die sich 1252 hier niederließen, im Verlauf des 13. Jahrhunderts fast die gesamte Grundherrschaft im Tal erwarben und bis zur Säkularisation durch Baden 1806 innehatten. Das Siegel des Vogts von Oberried zeigte im 18. Jahrhundert eine Pflugschar und drei Sterne, die Gemeindesiegel des 19. Jahrhunderts bringen in einem Wappenschild zusammen mit den Initialen OR ein Sensenblatt und drei Sterne. Diese sehr häufig vorkommenden und daher wenig charakteristischen Motive fanden nicht Eingang in das Gemeindewappen, die Gemeinde entschied sich 1899 vielmehr für den Vorschlag des Generallandesarchivs, das Wappen der 1592 ausgestorbenen Grafen von Tengen als Gemeindewappen zu übernehmen.
