| Object history |
Deutsch: Sasbachwalden war Teil des bis 1803 bischöflich straßburgischen Gerichts Sasbach. Erst nach der Verselbstständigung der Gemeinde im Jahre 1818 konnte sie eigene Siegel führen, die lediglich die Initialen SW und darüber eine Krone enthielten. 1905 gestaltete das Generallandesarchiv ein neues Siegelbild, das auf Wunsch der Gemeinde im Wappenschild eine dem Brigittenschloss, dem Wahrzeichen der Gemarkung, ähnliche Ruine in naturalistischer Darstellung zeigte. Das heutige, zusammen mit der Flagge vom Innenministerium am 2. November 1956 verliehene Wappen ist das Ergebnis der Bemühungen um ein heraldisch besseres Kennzeichen. Es soll den Waldreichtum der im Schwarzwald gelegenen, heute vom Fremdenverkehr geprägten Gemeinde und den Rebbau symbolisieren. |
