Deutsch: Die am Oberlauf der Acher gelegene, aus einem kleinen Dorfkern und verstreuten Weilern und Einzelhöfen bestehende Siedlung hat ihren Namen von dem aus dem Mummelsee kommenden Seebach. Die Gemeindegemarkung zieht sich bis zur Hornisgrinde und ist zu drei Vierteln mit Wald bedeckt. Das Wappen, im Jahre 1909 vom Generallandesarchiv gestaltet, weist also auf die Lage der Gemeinde in einem der meistbesuchten Gebiete des Nordschwarzwaldes hin. Die zunächst in „natürlichen" Farben gehaltene Tanne wurde inzwischen in einer heraldisch einwandfreien Farbe tingiert. Eine Tanne in einem Wappenschild hatte Seebach schon in seinen Gemeindesiegeln des 19. Jahrhunderts geführt. Eine ältere heraldische oder Siegeltradition hat der Ort nicht aufzuweisen, da er bis 1803 dem bischöflich straßburgischen Gericht Kappelrodeck unterstand und erst im Großherzogtum Baden zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts selbstständige Gemeinde wurde. |
