Deutsch: Nach Seelbach sind Schönberg (1971) und Wittelbach (1975) eingemeindet. Im neuen Wappen sollten historische Gemeinsamkeiten der Ortsteile zum Ausdruck kommen, was mit dem vom Generallandesarchiv entworfenen und vom Landratsamt Ortenaukreis am 10. März 1976 zusammen mit der Flagge verliehenen Wappen gelungen ist. Darin ist das Wappen der Herren von Geroldseck (roter Balken in Gold) mit dem der Herren von Dautenstein (roter Adler in Gold oder Blau) kombiniert. Schönberg und Seelbach gehören zum Kerngebiet der geroldseckischen Herrschaft. Die Burg Hohengeroldseck liegt auf Schönberger Gemarkung, über Seelbach hatten die Geroldsecker die Ortsherrschaft, in Wittelbach bedeutenden Grundbesitz. Die Herren von Dautenstein, ein im 15. Jahrhundert erloschenes Ministerialengeschlecht, hatten ihren Stammsitz in Dautenstein südlich von Seelbach und hielten damals ein Drittel der Ortsherrschaft von Wittelbach. |
