Deutsch: Das Wappen vereint heraldische Symbole zweier Adelsgeschlechter, die in der Geschichte der Gemeinde Surberg eine Rolle spielten. Der rote Löwe stammt aus dem Wappen der Herren von Surberg, die im 12. Jahrhundert zu den einflussreichsten Salzburger Ministerialengeschlechtern gehörten. Die Wellenleisten sind dem Schild der Hallabrucker entnommen, die im 12./13. Jahrhundert zu den Kraiburg-Ortenburger Ministerialen zählten. Hallabruck war eine wichtige Zollstätte.
