Deutsch: Die aus elf Steinen gebaute Zinnenmauer versinnbildlicht die Zusammensetzung der Marktgemeinde seit der kommunalen Gebietsreform in den 1970er-Jahren aus elf früheren Gemeinden: Titting, Kesselberg, Altdorf, Emsing, Großnottersdorf, Mantlach, Morsbach, Stadelhofen, Erkertshofen, Kaldorf und Petersbuch. Die Mauer symbolisiert zudem den römischen Limes, der mitten durch Erkertshofen verlief. Der wachsende silberne Bischofsstab im roten Feld ist aus dem Wappen des Hochstifts Eichstätt übernommen und erinnert an die enge historische Verbindung mit dem Fürstbistum Eichstätt. Das Domkapitel hatte schon im 12. Jahrhundert Besitz in Titting. Die Pfarrkirche St. Michael wurde 1305 der Bischofskirche inkorporiert. 1544 kamen Schloss und Dorf Titting durch Kauf an das Hochstift Eichstätt; das Schloss wurde Sitz eines fürstbischöflichen Pflegamtes. Seit dieser Zeit wird Titting als Markt bezeichnet. Titting verblieb bei Eichstätt bis zur Säkularisation 1803. Die gekreuzten Werkzeuge, Schlägel und Meißel, weisen auf den vor allem seit den 1950er-Jahren wichtigen Gewerbezweig, den Abbau und die Verarbeitung von Juramarmor, hin. |
