Object history
Deutsch: Der rote Wolf ist aus dem Wappen des Hochstifts Passau übernommen, zu dem Windorf vom 12. Jahrhundert bis zur Säkularisation 1803 gehörte. Noch 1812 führte Windorf kein eigenes Siegel. Den ersten Nachweis des Marktwappens liefert eine Zeichnung von 1835. Um 1840 wurde der rote Wolf ohne amtliche Genehmigung in die Bürgermeistermedaille und die Ortssiegel übernommen. In der Literatur findet sich der Wolf 1862 auch natürlich (graubraun) tingiert.
