Deutsch: Der Dreiberg spielt auf den Orts- und Gemeindenamen an und weist auf die geografische Lage der Gemeinde im hügeligen Voralpenland hin. Die Kette ist das Attribut des heiligen Leonhard, der als Patron der Land- und Viehwirtschaft verehrt wird, und versinnbildlicht das Patrozinium der Wallfahrtskirche St. Leonhard am Wonneberg. Die Rübe erinnert an den von 1495 bis 1519 amtierenden Erzbischof Leonhard von Keutschach, der aus einer Kärntner Bauernfamilie stammte und sich die Steckrübe als Wappenzeichen gewählt hatte. Er ließ die spätgotische Kirche anstelle eines kleinen Vorgängerbaus errichten und begründete damit die viel besuchte Leonhardswallfahrt. Möglicherweise ist die Rübe, die sich eingerahmt vom Erbauungsjahr 1496 auch an der Emporenbrüstung der Kirche findet, auch mit dem damals wirkenden Waginger Pfarrer Georg Stroppl in Verbindung zu bringen. Das Leonhardssymbol redet auch für den Namen des Kirchdorfes St. Leonhard am Wonneberg, dem Hauptort der Gemeinde. Bei der Kirche befand sich im Spätmittelalter ein wichtiger Versammlungsplatz von Vertretern aus den umliegenden Dörfern (Viertelleute des Pfleggerichts Halmberg). Der wachsende schwarze Löwe stammt aus der Heraldik des Erzstifts Salzburg und weist auf die bis in das 19. Jahrhundert andauernde Landesherrschaft der Erzbischöfe von Salzburg hin. Die Tingierung in den Salzburger Farben Schwarz und Gold unterstreicht nochmals diese enge Verbindung. |
