| Blazon | Deutsch: „In Silber sieben blaue Balken, darauf ein schwarzer, silbern (weiß) verfugter Turm mit Satteldach und drei rundbogigen, silbernen (weißen) Fenstern, darunter eine silberne (weiße), rechteckige Schießscharte und unten ein silbernes (weißes), spitzbogiges Tor.“
Die blauen Balken entstammen der Edelherren von Horstmar, die seit dem frühen Mittelalter in Recke Besitzungen hatten. Der alte Wehrturm der romanischen Kirche wurde als Wahrzeichen der Gemeinde dem Horstmarer Wappen beigefügt. English: „A fifteenfold barry Argent and azure shield, thereupon a church tower sable with gaps, three round arch windows in ration 2:1, below an oblong arrow slit, an ogival gate, all Argent and gable roof.“
The arms were granted on September 1st, 1939. The arms are derived from the arms of the Lords of Horstmar. The Romanesque church tower is the tower of the Protestant church of the muncipality, a former defence tower, built in the 9th century. Nederlands: niet gespecificeerd |
