Description
English: These are drawings of osteoderms (scutes) from Deinosuchus, a massive Cretaceous crocodilian. The osteoderms differ significantly from those of modern species; they are much thicker, and covered in deep and wide pits. The left and upper-right drawings illustrates the dorsal (overhead) view, while the lower-right drawing illustrates the posterior (side) view.
Deutsch: Zeichnungen der Osteodermen (Hautverknöcherungen) von Deinosuchus, einem großen Krokodil aus der Oberkreide von Nordamerika. Die osteodermalen Elemente unterscheiden sich deutlich von denen heutiger Arten, denn sie sind wesentlich dicker und von großen und tiefen Gruben bedeckt. Die Abbildungen links und rechts oben zeigen die dorsale Ansicht (Blick von oben), rechts unten die Seitenansicht (posterior).
