English: This image was taken by NOAA's SMS-2 satellite on August 31, 1979 at 16:00 UTC. From left to right, Tropical Storm Elena is located in the Gulf of Mexico, Hurricane David is just south of Hispaniola, and Tropical Storm Frederic is in the open Atlantic. A tropical depression is also seen south of Nova Scotia, and a tropical wave that will eventually become an unnumbered tropical depression is over western Africa. |
