Description The oldest surviving timber-framed barn in Europe. Coggeshall Grange Barn belonged to Coggeshall Abbey - which was founded in 1147 by King Stephen and Queen Matilda. The barn is so ancient it may even precede the abbey itself. Tests on the oldest parts of the wood have dated it to anywhere between 1130-1270.
