Per the back stamp, RKO Radio Pictures reissued this 1938 photograph in 1941, to promote Citizen Kane. The borderless print has cropped the studio signature on the face of the photograph, but it is Lucas Pritchard Studio. The sheet attached to the photograph reads as follows:

(7) Broadway success. Orson Welles and Geraldine Fitzgerald in scene from Mercury Theatre production of George Bernard Shaw's "Heartbreak House." Miss Fitzgerald was picked up by Hollywood, given quick fame. Welles had one more step, his radio invasion from Mars, before film contract which resulted in "Citizen Kane."
