English: Ex-NER Electric locomotive at Heaton Locomotive Depot.
Parked outside Heaton Sheds is No. 26500, one of the two unique 640 hp 0-4+4-0 overhead/3rd rail-equipped locomotives, used on the Quayside Branch from Trafalgar Yard near Manors (Newcastle). They were built by BTH/Brush in 7/1905, numbered 1 and 2 by the LNER (Nos. 6480/1 in 1946), then 26500/1 by BR; they were withdrawn in 9/64.
