English: These are the two-dimensional chemical structures of important aldehydes. The aldehyde group is colored red. The structures are labeled with numbers (1 through 8) as follows...

  2. formaldehyde's trimer, 1,3,5-trioxane [chair conformation]
  3. acetaldehyde
  4. acetaldehyde's enol, vinyl alcohol
  5. α-D-glucopyranose [chair conformation]
  6. cinnamaldehyde
  7. retinal
  8. pyridoxal
The drawing was done in ACD/ChemSketch v12.01 (using standard ACS structure drawing style) and exported as a Windows Metafile (WMF). The image was converted to SVG using Inkscape v0.48 to yield a vector graphics version.
