Summary

Description Engraving of Frontispiece for Johann Kuhnau's Six Biblical Sonatas, published in 1700 in Leipzig. The engraving shows an idealised music room from the late 17th and early 18th century. On the right the lady plays on a chamber organ with a large bible behind; there is a clavichord on the left; behind it the rounded corner or 'tail' of a harpsichord is just visible.
