Summary

Description
English: Monte Barro (Invorio, NO) in autumn, with the ancient church of Santa Maria Annunziata del Barro on its summit. Probably built on the ruins of a castle, the church features an apse dating back to 1484 and interior frescoes with symbols of the Litany still in good condition. A side altar, dedicated to Saint Lucy, was added in 1796 by the noble priest Luigi Visconti d'Aragona. The restored houses flanking the church testify to the presence of an ancient abbey complex, inhabited for centuries by the so-called "hermits of Barro". Today, the site comes alive every May 1st with the "Festa della Dea Flora", a tradition that celebrates love and spring.
