English: In early 2001, construction began on the monument dedicated to the Alpine troops and their fallen soldiers at the entrance to the town.

The large boulders, procured in the mountains with mechanical equipment kindly provided by Mr. Monzaschi, were stacked to form the structure and secured with cement. A bronze eagle, purchased from the Perincioli foundry in Quarona, was placed on top.

The inauguration celebrations for the two monuments began on the evening of Saturday, November 10, with a concert in the Parish Church by the "Antonio Vivaldi" Choir of Cambiano. On the morning of Sunday, November 11, the new building on Via Matteotti was inaugurated, where a blessing was imparted by the Parish Priest, Don Giovanni. Then, the procession, preceded by the Caltignaga band and consisting of local administrators, representatives of the Carabinieri, Army, and Financial Police, representatives of the Alpine Group of Novara, Omegna, Cameri, Caltignaga, Trecate, Romentino, Vespolate, Bellinzago, Marano Ticino, and Oleggio, local Alpine troops, and citizens, reaches the new monument on Via Piave. After a speech by group leader Luciano Leonardi, who outlines the purpose of the work and donates the structure to the Municipality of Garbagna, the banner is removed and the eagle is unveiled.
