Reason for the nomination: These are modern (1970s) commemorative medals created by a private mint (read: not US gov't public domain) as a commercial product; there would have been underlying work by a medalist/engraver to create these, which are clearly creative works. I don't think these derivative works of 1970s private commercial products would be freely licensed.
