Summary

Description
English: One of the smallest plastid genomes among flowering plants (Hydnora visseri: Aristolochiaceae).

Plastid genome map of the non-photosynthetic parasitic plant Hydnora visseri (27,233 bp ; NCBI accession number KT970098.1Naumann et al. 2016, Genome Biol. Evol. 8:345–363). The 24 genes are color coded: small subunit ribosomal proteins (rps, yellow), large subunit ribosomal proteins (rpl, orange), hypothetical chloroplast open reading frames (ycf, lemon), accD (red), ribosomal RNAs (rrn, blue), and transfer RNAs (trn, black). Introns are in grey. The rps12 gene consists of 5′ and 3′ portions. Strand 1 and 2 genes are transcribed clockwise and counterclockwise, respectively.

The innermost circle provides the boundaries of the large and small single copy regions (LSC and SSC, violet) separated by a pair of inverted repeats (IRa and IRb, black).
