Michael Praetorius Syntagman Musicum 1614-1620

  • Cornetts: 5 tenor cornett, 6 choral zink, 7 cornettino, 8 "Gerader" zink, 9 mute cornett.
  • Posauns include: 1&2 bass trombone, 3 rechte gemeine posaun, 4 alto trombone. Posaun came from buisine, and the altered buisine trumpets came to be known as the sackbut or trombone.
  • Trumpets include: 10 natural trumpet, 11 Jaeger (hunter) trumpet, 12 Hölzern trumpet (alphorn, a wooden trumpet), krumbügel (parts to change length of trombone or trumpet tubing, thus changing the instrument's key).
