Description

A Royal Air Force Curtiss Mohawk Mk.IV fighter (s/n BB977) in India in January 1943. No 5 and No 155 squadrons RAF used the Mohawk in India in 1942/43.

Original caption: "United States "lend-lease" program in eastern India. Lend-lease Mohawk fighters are readied for a take-off at an Indian air base. Mohawk fighter being made ready for flight. These ships were furnished to the French, taken over by the English. Consensus of pilots: "Best plane made for use against the Japs"."
