Summary

Description
English: The rear of the Campbell Street Gaol looking down Melville St towards the Prison Governor's Residence. The bushranger Martin Cash was captured nearby, after turning down this street trying to escape capture, unaware that it was a dead end, leading to it being know locally as Martin's Mistake. The residence and prison were demolished in the 1960s, and Melville Street extended to join Campbell Street.
