Summary

Description
English: Coat of arms sent from France to England in July 1559, laying claim, in heraldic form, to the English crown. The dexter side (left as viewed) is the dimidiated arms of Dauphin Francis, as King Consort of Scotland, quartering his arms as Dauphin (France quartered with the Dauphiné) with those of Scotland, over all an inescutcheon of England (which consisted of France quartering England to reflect the English monarchy's historical claim to France). This impales on the sinister (right) side the arms of Mary, Queen of Scots as claimant to the English crown, Scotland quartered with England.
