English: LMR experimental Bo-Bo Diesel at Rugby station.
View eastward on the Down main platform at Rugby; ex-London & North Western WCML. No. 10800 was an 0-4-4-0 (Bo-Bo) 800 hp Diesel locomotive designed for the LMS in 1947 by English-Electric and British Thompson Houston for secondary services. It was delivered to the London Midland Region in June 1950 and put to extensive trials on the Derby - Manchester route and then on the Southern Region, eventually settling down to work passenger trains between Rugby and Peterborough. However, its performance and reliabiity were disappointing and it was withdrawn in 1959 and not perpetuated. Here in 1955 it is on a train from Peterborough.
