Description
English: A watercolor painting by Mikhail Tikhanov of the Tlingit Chief Katlian and his wife. In the background is Baranov's Castle fortress (Castle Hill) and unidentified members of Katlian's tribe. Katlian is about 45 years old in this painting and wears the "Allies of Russia" silver medal around his neck. This painting was made in August 1818 shortly after Katlian made peace with Baranov and the Russians.
