English: “Great Lawgivers of History,” chosen by Adolph Weinman, show the progression of law over time. Interspersed in the panels are winged allegorical figures. The chronology begins on the South Frieze (right side of the Courtroom, facing the Bench) and continues on the North Frieze (left side of the Courtroom, facing the Bench). Lawgivers on the South Frieze (proceeding from left to right): Menes, Hammurabi, Moses, Solomon, Lycurgus, Solon, Draco, Confucius, and Octavian.
