Description
English: George Vancouver's ship the Discovery on the Rocks in Queen Charlotte Strait, 1792?, Zachariah Mudge, from watercolour (12 x 18.7 cm), State Library of New South Wales, DL Pd 695
. The ship ran aground in early August 1792 on hidden rocks near Fife Sound. His other ship, Chatham, in the background in this scene, also ran aground on rocks within the day, about two miles away. The drawing was printed in the Vancouver's book A Voyage of Discovery to the North Pacific Ocean, and Round the World, published in 1801, London, by John Stockdale.
