Description
English: The Whistler Farewell railtour at Leeds Whistler was a nickname for the class 40 diesel locomotives, on account of the sound of their engines. The class, which had generally been used for freight rather than passenger duties, was being withdrawn in the mid-80s. This example, 40122, had been repainted in its original 1950s green livery with its original number D200 in order to run a "farewell" tour over the Leeds-Carlisle line.
