Summary

Description
English: CASE B.—STIGMATA OF DEGENERATION.

F. C. (Middle-Grade Imbecile). The father was a miner. F. was the only child; and slightly scrofulous, otherwise a healthy babe. He resembles a newly hatched bird, with his head a bright pink and covered with a yellow down. Both ears are rudimentary; there is no auditory canal, so he is stone deaf. He has a large tongue, and keeps his mouth open. The palate is very high, and there are polypi in the nostrils. He is active and affectionate. He is clever at making and understanding signs. He learned to knit, sew, darn stockings, cane chairs, and to do housework. He also learned shoe-making, but could never learn to read or write. Aged 9 years when photo was

taken.
