Gainesville, Florida
Gainesville is a city in north-central Florida in the United States. It is the county seat of Alachua County.
It is home to the University of Florida, the largest public university in the state. An alligator (Gator) named Albert is the mascot of the University of Florida. (A mascot is a symbol of qualities the school admires).
People think that growth of the city comes from building the university in the city. People of the city show their strong good feelings for the university by going to football games there, and by showing Gator symbols in businesses and homes. The city is also famous as the birthplace of singer Tom Petty.
