Giyu Tomioka (冨岡 義勇 Tomioka Giyu) The current "Pillar (Hashira) of Water" and is the first Demon Slayer Tanjiro encounters in the first chapter of the series. Two years after the first meeting with Tanjiro and Nezuko in a snowy forest, Tomioka runs into these two again, after a battle against a demon called Rui, who is the fifth waning moon of the Demonic Moons of Muzan and now sees Tanjiro as one of the corps, but he has not forgotten Nezuko either. It is also revealed during a meeting at the headquarters of the Demon Slayers corps, along with the other Pillars (Hashira) and the leading patron of the corps, that Tomioka along with Master Urokodaki and Tanjiro had sworn to kill Nezuko and sacrifice their lives through the Seppuku ritual if she ever devoured or hurt a human. During the final battle against Muzan, Tomioka loses an arm in combat, but fortunately survives after the demon is destroyed.
