Godwin, Earl of Wessex
Godwin of Wessex (died 15 April 1053) was an Anglo-Saxon earl, the head of a noble and rich family in Wessex. He was the father of King Harold II (r. January – October 1066) and of Edith of Wessex. Edith married King Edward the Confessor in 1045 (r. 1042–1066).
