Hannes Winklbauer

Hannes Winklbauer (born 25 December 1949) was a former Austrian football player. After the end of his active career he worked as football coach and journalist.[1]

Career

He started with SV Kapfenberg. From 1969 to 1971 he played for SW Bregenz. 1971 he went to SV Austria Salzburg where he stayed till the end of his active career.

National team

Winkelbauer played between 1974 and 1975 seven matches for the Austrian national football team.

Manager

He started his coaching career with ASVÖ FC Puch where his brother Hubert was player. In the 1984-85 season he was coach and manager of SV Austria Salzburg. The club was relegeted but he found new players who became very important for the club in the following years (f.e. Christian Fürstaller and Wolfgang Feiersinger). After a second time as manager in the 1986-87 season he ended his coaching career.

Personal life

After his coaching career he became sports journalist. Till his retirement in 2010 he wrote mainly for the Salzburger Nachrichten.
