Hugo Verbrugh

Hugo Stephan Verbrugh (22 August 1937 – 4 December 2024) was a Dutch physician, philosopher and columnist.

From 1967 to 2002 he was a lecturer in medicine and philosophy at the Medical Faculty Rotterdam (since 2002 called Erasmus MC). Verbrugh conducted epistemological research into the relationship between regular and non-regular medicine. He also sought a scientific reflection of reincarnation. In the 1970s he was a columnist for NRC Handelsblad, wrote several books and gave lectures. In the 1970s and 1980s Verbrugh was also a columnist for the anthroposophical monthly Jonas [nl]. From 1980 to 1985 he worked as an anthroposophical physician in Delft. In addition, Verbrugh was a columnist for "De Ster van Kralingen". On several occasions Verbrugh publicly sought intellectual confrontations on subjects related to alternative medicine, reincarnation and anthroposophy. Since his retirement in 2002 he has been a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences, psychology department of the Erasmus University Rotterdam.[1][2][3][4]

Verbrugh died in Zeist on 4 December 2024, at the age of 87.[4][2]
