Human reproductive system
The Human reproductive system allows humans to reproduce and bear live offspring. It involves releasing an ovum, or egg, at a specific time in the reproductive cycle. Once this is done, the egg gets fertilized and transported to the uterus, or womb. At this point the fertilized egg is called a blastocyst where the early embryo has developed from the fertilized ovum, in the wall of the uterus. Other steps include formation of a placenta and maintenance of the unborn child during the entire period of gestation which is normally 9 months. For this complex biological process to be carried out, certain organs and structures are required in both the male and the female that develop during adulthood.
