It is in the present day Moirang in Bishnupur district of Manipur.^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4]^[5] The millennium old legends of the Khamba Thoibi has its roots connected to the sacred temple. Legend says that the famous dance form of Khamba Thoibi Jagoi was first performed in the temple, by Khuman Khamba and Moirang Thoibi as a part of the Lai Haraoba festival.^[6]^[7]^[8]
