Il Canzoniere is a collection of 365 poems. It was written by the Italian poet Petrarch between 1336 and 1373. Its central theme is the poet's love for Laura, a woman Petrarch allegedly met on April 6, 1327, in the Church of Sainte Claire in Avignon
