It was (first) named İplikçi Mosque because it was located where earlier the İplik Pazarı was situated. Building was started in 1562 by Abdi Ağa, a wealthy person from Isparta and was completed in 1569. Its roof was covered with wood; but not lead coated. The worn roof cover was repaired in its old form in 1725.
